Ms. Carey Best

Ms. Carey Best, Registered Psychologist

I have always had a deep-rooted passion for helping people understand the best ways to help themselves. I believe we all have our own inner strengths to overcome our obstacles, but it can be troubling when the solution isn’t easy to find. This is where therapy becomes beneficial. There is nobody who knows you better than you, so I will work collaboratively with you to help you find the best way to start feeling better.

My therapeutic approach draws from different theoretical backgrounds that are tailored to the uniqueness of each individual. I believe that exploring thoughts, emotions and behaviours will help to uncover the tools needed to overcome the difficulties faced in life. I offer a non-judgmental approach and place emphasis on building a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship to ensure that you feel supported and understood while we explore your roadblocks. My counselling style is based on providing a genuine, warm, and compassionate atmosphere with a splash of humour (when appropriate!) to help facilitate change.

I utilize a client-centred, integrative therapeutic framework where I use evidence-based interventions from Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Narrative Therapy.

I look forward to helping you on your journey.

“For what it’s worth…it’s never too late, or in my case too early, to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit. Start whenever you want. You can change or stay the same. There are no rules to this thing. We can make the best of it or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you’ve never felt before. I hope you meet people who have a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of, and if you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start over again.”
