Ms. Anita Gautam, Provisional Psychologist
Life presents us with a myriad of challenges, yet it’s important to remember that we all possess an innate strength and resilience that can guide us through adversities and uncertainties. Whether you’re dealing with loss, life transitions, self-esteem issues, complex relationships, or trauma recovery, it’s essential to know you don’t have to face these challenges alone. Engaging with a therapist can be the catalyst for change, fostering self-awareness, growth, and healing.
In our work together, you can expect a compassionate, collaborative approach. I am committed to honouring and respecting your voice, perspective, and unique experiences. My goal is to ensure you feel safe, understood, and accepted just as you are. Our sessions will blend empathy, practical support, gentle honesty, and a touch of humour to ease the journey when needed. I understand that everyone’s path is distinct, shaped by personal experiences, culture, and values. That’s why I tailor my therapeutic approach to best support your individual needs.
I bring a diverse range of interests and expertise to my practice, including cross-cultural counselling, addressing the impact of peri- and menopausal changes on women, addressing concerns related to self-esteem, including practicing from a HAES perspective (Health at Every Size), navigating parenthood, and managing the complexities of the sandwich generation, caring for both parents and children. My therapeutic toolkit includes Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I’m also trained in Levels 1 and 2 of Gottman Method Therapy and Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples. I adopt a culturally sensitive and integrative approach, ensuring our work is as unique as you are.
My experience spans both hospital and private practice settings, supporting adolescents, adults, couples, and families with issues such as depression, anxiety, chronic illness, life transitions, grief, relationship challenges, communication struggles, and identity issues. My personal journey, filled with its own challenges and growth, has endowed me with deep empathy and understanding. These experiences have fostered a sense of hope that I bring into my practice. It is truly an honor to walk beside you as an ally on your path toward healing and personal growth.
