Ms. Carmen Barrack
Ms. Carmen Barrack, Registered Psychologist
(Alberta, British Columbia, United Kingdom)
Whether you need a cheerleader, a motivator, or a quiet confidant who will simply be with you on your journey, I aim to meet you where you are at. I don’t believe change has to be hard or dramatic to be meaningful. Sometimes it’s one shift – one courageous choice – that begins the process of transformation. My approach is relationship-driven, goal-oriented, and solution-focused. I want to help you believe in your own capacity for growth by creating a safe, collaborative space where you feel heard, understood, and supported. I believe deeply in the human ability to change, and I’m here to help you access that potential.
I am a Registered Psychologist in Alberta, British Columbia and the United Kingdom, with over 18 years of combined experience working with children, youth, and families in the fields of education and psychology, as well as supervising Master’s-level therapists. Over the past 10 years as a Registered Psychologist, I have supported clients as a school counsellor, psychoeducational assessor, and leader in inclusive education. I also bring experience integrating psychology into one’s health care and sport and performance environments, always with the aim of making psychological services more accessible, brief, and empowering.
Currently, I am completing the North American certification as a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC). I have worked with individual athletes and sports teams to foster positive team dynamics, sharpen mental skills, and build resilience under pressure. I understand the performance mindset both as a professional and as an athlete myself. I have competed at the provincial, national, and world levels in curling, winning a World Junior Curling Championship.
My integrated approach draws on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Brief ACT, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, grounded in a positive, hope-based framework. I’m also trained in administering gold-standard assessment tools including the WISC, WIAT, and ADOS. With my background in education, I prioritize sharing knowledge in ways that help clients make informed, empowered choices. Whether you are looking for a focused consultation or ongoing or brief therapy (often 1–4 sessions) acting as a behavioural health consultant, I can help you activate immediate, meaningful change.
On a personal note, I am a wife and mother to boy/girl twins who are elite-level university rugby players – sports and performance are in our DNA. I’m a proud Master athlete, avid runner, tennis and pickleball player, hiker, and lifelong curler. I continue to pursue new goals and believe I am more equipped now than ever before to achieve them. I’ve learned firsthand that the greatest opponent is often fear – and the key to moving forward is choosing to Face Everything And Rise.
Whether you’re navigating challenges in school, sport, parenting, performance, or life, I would be honoured to help you rise.

In each session, we ask purposeful questions to uncover your core strengths and values – so we can harness your potential to spark change. This holistic approach honours the powerful mind-body connection and focuses on one achievable change by the end of the first session – one that can ignite a path of positive, progressive, and lasting transformation.
We work together to:
- Transform health habits linked to chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and obesity
- Strengthen motivation for medication adherence, nutrition, and physical activity
- Relieve stress, alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety, and restore healthy sleep patterns
- Break free from smoking and substance misuse
- Resolve parenting challenges through practical strategies
- Adapt to life with illness or injury, building resilience and clarity

What is Parent Coaching/Support?
Whether you’re on the field, the stage, or leading in your career, sport and performance psychology equips you to train your mind like you train your body – on purpose, with purpose.
As a psychologist, I partner with parents to support their children and teens through the complex challenges of growing up – whether it’s navigating behavioural concerns, academic struggles, or performance pressures in sport and the arts. Using a collaborative, problem-solving approach, I work with families to understand the root of concerns, build on strengths, and implement practical strategies that lead to meaningful, lasting change.
I bring a substantial background in education, having served as a teacher, counsellor, and inclusion leader. This experience allows me to bridge the worlds of psychology and education with insight and effectiveness.
I believe in being high on expectation and high on warmth – holding a clear vision for your child’s potential while creating a compassionate, judgment-free space for parents to reflect, learn, and lead with confidence.
My parent coaching services can help you:
- Understand and respond to challenging behaviours at home or school
- Support academic success through strategies tailored to your child’s learning profile
- Navigate motivation, pressure, and mindset challenges for young athletes and performers
