Mr. Kingsley Chan

Kingsley Chan, Registered Psychologist

The therapeutic journey can take place through various forms. As we are all individuals with differing lived experiences, belief systems, and cultural viewpoints, finding the modality that suits your needs is a crucial aspect of treatment. Overall, my belief as a therapist is that every person has unique strengths and abilities that can be utilized in their therapeutic journey. I work with clients to develop a personalized treatment plan that incorporates their goals, values, and preferences.

My career in mental health and educational journey throughout my Master’s degree over the past 16 years has provided me with a breadth of experience working in rehabilitative health, universities, crisis intervention and group care settings.  As a registered psychologist for the past 9 years, my approach is client-centered, collaborative, and grounded in strengths-based and multicultural perspectives. I utilize my training in solution-focused, narrative, cognitive-behavioural, acceptance and commitment, prolonged exposure, and motivational interviewing therapies to work with adults in individual counselling. I specialize in brain injuries, chronic pain, trauma-related mood disorders, depression and anxiety, grief and loss, motor vehicle accidents and career counselling.

Outside of my practice as a psychologist, I am a devoted father, avid sports fan, casual photographer, and motor vehicle enthusiast. I aim to utilize my diverse interests to establish rapport and develop an empathic therapeutic relationship upon which we will create a specialized treatment plan that best suits your needs. I look forward to assisting you through your journey.

“The beautiful part about it is everyone experiences different pains. Everyone experiences different agonies in life. But you decide if you want to learn from it. You decide if you want to use that to be a teachable moment.”
– Jalen Hurts
