Ms. Erica Perrott-Mazerolle, Registered Psychologist
In life we all experience challenges both big and small. At times these challenges are best addressed with the support of others. On our own, it can be difficult to begin to approach challenges in a new way. To help with this process, I strive to create an environment where the people that meet with me can feel safe to explore their experiences without judgement. You will be welcomed just as you are, and we will work together to help you achieve your goals for therapy. You are the expert on your experience therefore, I take a collaborative approach to counselling. I work together with you to build on your strengths, draw on your resources and to develop new ways of approaching life’s challenges.
I approach my work with curiosity, compassion, and creativity. Our work together may include discussing past, present and anticipated challenges to gain an understanding of what is happening in your life and the context in which it arose. We may practice new skills in communication, boundary setting, mindfulness, and more to aid you developing practical tools to address problems in your life. We may explore thoughts and feelings surrounding life challenges to give you space to process inner experiences in a safe environment. Finally, we may explore your strengths, resources, and the tools you have already developed but may not have thought to apply to your current situation. Over time this process often amounts to the development of new ways of relating to yourself and to others.
I have supported individuals and couples experiencing anxiety, depression, suicidality, grief, work/school stress, goal setting and relationship difficulties. I work to address these challenges by drawing from several evidence-based approaches including Narrative Practice, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Whatever you come to work on and whatever approach we take together to address your challenges, I consider the opportunity to journey with you for a portion of your life’s path an honour and an immense privilege.
“A person is a fluid process, not a fixed and static entity; a flowing river of change; not a block of solid material; a continually changing constellation of potentialities, not a fixed quantity of traits.” ~ Carl Rogers (1907-1987)
