“People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don’t find myself saying, “Soften the orange a bit on the right-hand corner.” I don’t try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.”
~ Carl R. Rogers
Starting counselling can feel daunting. Sometimes, before getting started, it’s easy to feel stuck or unsure of where to begin or who to reach out to. Maybe you’ve found yourself browsing through different therapist profiles or offices online, not quite sure what’s next. But once you take that first step, it can be an exciting move toward personal growth and well-being. I believe everyone possesses inner strengths and resources to take those steps, even during times of uncertainty or feeling stuck. Once we connect, my role is to walk alongside you as you discover and build on these strengths.
Authenticity is at the heart of how I work. I aim to create a space where, in your own time, you feel safe to be yourself as you work toward your goals, whatever they may be (and it’s okay if you don’t know right away!). Maybe you’re hoping to manage life’s challenges, make sense of your experiences, prepare for the future, gain new perspectives, or learn new skills. Whatever brings you to counselling, we’ll shape our work around your individual needs. To do that, I prioritize getting to know you, and for you to feel known and understood, at your own pace.
I practice from an integrative, person-centred perspective, valuing the therapeutic relationship as a foundation for growth. With authenticity, I bring warmth, patience, honesty, a non-judgmental presence, and a touch of humour (when appropriate) to every session. Our sessions are your space, fully dedicated to your experiences, needs, and goals. In addition to the therapeutic relationship, I draw on a variety of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, and EMDR.
If any of this speaks to you or sparks your interest, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
