Couples Therapy
At YEG Psychology, we recognize that relationships are one of the most important aspects of our lives. Whether you’re navigating challenges or simply seeking to enhance your connection, we are here to offer you the support and tools you need to strengthen your bond.
Couples therapy is a process that helps partners explore the emotional and psychological dynamics of their relationship in a safe and supportive environment. It provides a space for partners to work through challenges, improve communication, and strengthen their bond. Our approach to couples therapy combines evidence-based practices, including the Gottman Method and Emotion-Focused Therapy. These approaches aim to help couples with communication, conflict resolution, trust-building, and improving intimacy.
We understand that every relationship is unique, and our goal is to tailor our services to meet your specific needs, enhancing your connection and creating a strong foundation for a healthy partnership.
Common Challenges We Help Couples Overcome:
- Communication Issues: Misunderstandings and ineffective communication can lead to frustration. We help couples improve their communication skills, ensuring that both partners feel heard and understood.
- Conflict Resolution: Disagreements are natural, but the way we handle them is key. We teach couples how to manage conflict in a healthy way, helping reduce stress and strengthen their connection.
- Trust Issues: Trust is the foundation of every relationship. Whether due to past experiences or misunderstandings, we work with couples to rebuild trust and create a secure partnership.
- Affairs & Betrayal: Infidelity and breaches of trust can deeply impact a relationship. Our therapists specialize in helping couples navigate the emotional pain caused by affairs, rebuilding trust, and finding a path forward. We use strategies to help couples heal and either rebuild their relationship or make difficult decisions with clarity and mutual respect.
- Intimacy Concerns: Physical and emotional intimacy are crucial for a healthy relationship. We help couples rekindle emotional and physical closeness in their relationship.
- Navigating Parenthood Together: Having a baby can create significant changes in your relationship. We help couples adjust to the demands of parenthood while maintaining a strong partnership.

Why Choose YEG Psychology for Couples Therapy?
Specialized Expertise in Couples Therapy: Our therapists are trained in the Gottman Method and Emotion-Focused Therapy, two of the most highly regarded approaches for improving relationships. With a focus on emotional intimacy, communication, and conflict resolution, we offer proven strategies to improve your relationship.
Therapy Intensives for Lasting Change: We offer intensive couples therapy, both in-office and at unique locations. Next spring, we’re launching our first couples retreat in a beautiful mountain setting. This retreat includes approximately 10 hours of therapy with two specialized therapists, planned couple’s activities, and meals, designed to deepen connection and provide valuable tools. Additionally, couples can book therapy intensives in the office, working with a therapist for several hours over multiple consecutive days. This accelerated approach is ideal for those who prefer a quicker pace or have difficulty attending regular appointments but can dedicate a block of time to relationship recovery.
Blending Professional Care with a Personal Touch: We are committed to providing a warm, empathetic environment where you and your partner can feel at ease discussing even the most challenging issues. Our approach combines science-backed strategies with genuine understanding and care to help you build the relationship you desire. Having experienced many of the same challenges in our own relationships, we can relate to your struggles and offer both personal insights and professional guidance to address the issues that brought you to therapy.
Therapy for Every Love Story – Embracing Diversity: We recognize that relationships come in various forms, including interracial, interfaith, opposite-sex or same-sex couples, trans couples, open marriages, and everything in between. Our practice is committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all couples, embracing the diverse expressions of love and partnership. We are experienced in addressing a wide range of issues and dynamics unique to each relationship type. Should the need arise, we can also offer appropriate referrals to ensure you receive the most suitable support for your specific situation.
Strengthening Bonds Through Parenthood: We understand that the arrival of a child can create additional stress and strain on relationships. That’s why we offer the Bringing Baby Home program, designed to help couples strengthen their partnership while navigating the challenges of becoming parents. Many of our therapists are parents themselves, so they bring both professional expertise and personal experience to support you during this important time.
