“The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind”
~ William James (1842-1910)
Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional
Most people don’t wake up one morning and think, “You know what sounds fun? Therapy.” Usually, individuals or couples come to counselling when something in life feels heavy, stuck, or just plain confusing—whether it’s mood, relationships, stress, or big life transitions. My role is to help untangle the knots, offer new perspective, and remind you that change (while not always easy) is absolutely possible.
With over 15 years of counselling experience and doctoral-level training, I’ve learned that therapy works best when it’s both effective and human. My approach combines well-researched therapeutic methods with a genuine, down-to-earth connection where humour, warmth, and compassion all have a seat at the table. I believe our thoughts and behaviours shape our feelings and when we learn to shift those patterns, life can feel a whole lot lighter.
My therapeutic style is best described as warm, direct, and sprinkled with humour (because sometimes laughter really is the best coping skill). I take an integrative approach, drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and the Gottman Method for couples. I also lean into Positive Psychology, because holding onto hope and optimism can make all the difference when life feels tough.
I hold formal training in several evidence-based interventions, including Prolonged Exposure Therapy, EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, the Gottman Method, and Bringing Home Baby. I am one of only a few psychologists in Alberta certified in perinatal mental health, with a special interest in supporting mothers and couples through pregnancy, postpartum, and the many roles that come with parenthood. I especially enjoy working with couples as they navigate the profound (and sometimes bumpy) transition to parenting.
As a professional, business owner, and married mother of two young daughters, I understand first-hand the mental load of…well…life—the endless to-do lists, unnoticed responsibilities, and the juggling act of wearing many hats at once. This lived perspective shapes the way I support clients, not only clinically but also with empathy for the daily realities that often go unnoticed.
Over the years, I’ve worked in rehabilitative health, general mental health, and university settings, specializing in traumatic stress, workplace burnout, and major life transitions. I have a deep appreciation for the resilience people show in the face of hardship, and I don’t shy away from having honest conversations when they’re needed. Clients often describe me as warm but direct, a therapist who can challenge you and still make you feel supported in the process.
At the heart of my work is the belief that therapy should help you see yourself and your relationships more clearly, and give you the tools to create meaningful change. My hope is that our sessions offer both relief and growth, and maybe even a few good laughs along the way.
